We LOVE reality TV! Well… we do, and then again, we don’t. A gal can only take so much Honey Boo Boo before wanting to stab a fork in her own eye. But we absolutely love watching new country music stars find their voice and start a career upon the many stages of the television reality shows. Our latest fascination: Danielle Bradbery from NBC’s The Voice!

Team Blake Goes All The Way!

Danielle Bradbery is absolutely adorable. The combination of her sweet and innocent look and that killer voice make us a little giddy. The girl can certainly rock a dress and cowgirl boots, or a dress and short boots! We were wowed with her from the start of her blind audition. And you just had to know that Blake Shelton was going to make her part of his team. Um, hello… country music superstar + adorable singer = certain victory!

    But… Is It Worth It?

Is reality TV really worth it? Do the winners of these shows really get the best deal? Do the fans of the show really care about the artist once the reality TV season is over? Is the winner really worthy of standing among the extremely talented artists that fought tooth and nail to “win” a contract with blood, sweat, tears, pavement pounding, and endless hours playing gigs in the seedy bars of Nowhere Town before finally getting a chance at the big time? Dunno.

You have to look at a few of the past winners and answer those questions with a “yes.” Carrie Underwood, season 4 winner of American Idol, is belle of the country music ball. The gal has undeniable talent and cleans house at award ceremonies! What about Kelly Clarkson from the 1st season of American Idol? She’s not 100% committed to the country music genre, but she’s had hits on both sides of the fence.

    These Losers Are Winners!

We have to also mention a few reality TV show “losers” who now grace the country music frontlines. Miranda Lambert came in 3rd on Nashville Star, but she still landed a record deal. It’s easy to say things turned out OK for her despite the reality TV loss! Kellie Pickler, from the 5th season of American Idol, adds a mark to the “maybe” category. While she only finished 6th in the show, she did get a contract and has had a handful of hits. Her career in music has resulted in quite a few award nominations and several wins, but it hasn’t really taken off like some of her fellow reality TV stars. However, Kellie and her dancing partner just completed a 1st place finish on season 16 of Dancing with the Stars, so you can’t deny the gal has talent!

The results are a mixed bag. Some winners walk away with their dreams inked and fans loyal. Others struggle and ride the roller coaster up and down along the way. Some even fade away into television history. Perhaps it’s still a roll of the dice for the winners (and losers), and not all that different for any other musician trying to land a record deal. There’s just no guarantee.

What do you think: Is reality TV worth it for singers looking to land a record deal?
